Hoeven thanks veterans, servicemembers and families in floor speech

Senator John Hoeven this week delivered remarks on the U.S. Senate floor to recognize and thank veterans, servicemembers and their families throughout North Dakota and across the country. As a member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Committee and the Senate Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Committee, Hoeven outlined his efforts to ensure that the men and women who have served, or are currently serving in our Armed Forces, receive the care, benefits and recognition they have earned. The senator highlighted North Dakota’s rich tradition of military service and his visit to the war memorials on the National Mall last week in honor of Veterans Day.

“With Veterans Day having recently passed and Thanksgiving approaching, we are once again reminded of the many freedoms and blessings we enjoy as a nation, all of which have been secured by the men and women who serve or have served in our Armed Forces,” said Hoeven. “We can best honor the service and courage of our veterans and those who serve in our Armed Forces by ensuring they receive the care, benefits and recognition that our nation promised them. We continue working to do just that to show our gratitude for their service and sacrifice.”
