Essentia Health Hosts Flu Shot Event on Saturday

Essentia Health-52nd Avenue Clinic located at 4110 51st Avenue South in Fargo is hosting a spooktacular flu event on Saturday, October 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for the whole family. Grab your little ghouls and goblins for a scary good time strolling down Monster Main Street with trick or treating, face painting, photo booth, fun activities, Jumbo’s Food Truck and flu shots.

Influenza season is upon us and now is the time to protect yourself, your family and the community by getting vaccinated. The flu vaccine is recommended for people six months and older, including people with compromised immune systems and chronic medical conditions.

“Getting a flu shot is one of the best ways to keep your family healthy and improve population health,” says Essentia Health Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Rajesh Prabhu. “The flu shot protects the most vulnerable in our community – elderly, young children and those with significant health conditions.”

It’s a concept called herd immunity, immunizing young and healthy segments of our communities to help prevent more vulnerable members from getting sick.

The flu vaccine is made from influenza strains identified to be the most likely to hit the Northern hemisphere, based on what medical experts have seen occur in the southern half of the world.

Flu vaccinations are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance.
