Healthy & Productive ND Urges North Dakotans to Vote No on Measure 3

Healthy and Productive North Dakota held a press conference Tuesday urging North Dakotans to vote no on Measure 3 to legalize recreational marijuana. The committee pointed to consequences of recreational marijuana use including limitless potency, candies, and drugged driving.

“North Dakota has a big decision to make in the next month that will have lasting impact on our state. We are working to educate voters on the realities and consequences of legalizing recreational marijuana,” said Kristie Spooner, chairwoman of Healthy and Productive North Dakota Against Measure 3. “We need to learn from other states that have had real consequences including out of control drugged driving and the targeting of children with colorful marijuana edibles.”

Joining Healthy and Productive North Dakota was Luke Niforatos, Executive Director of Smart Approach to Marijuana (SAM) and special guest Justin Luke Riley, head of Marijuana Accountability Coalition in Colorado.

“North Dakotans don’t have to experiment with higher potency and unlimited marijuana – you should learn from the mistakes other states have already made. Just look at the increased substance abuse, more impaired drivers on the roads, and thriving black markets in other states – is this what North Dakota wants to see?” said Luke Niforatos, Executive Director of SAM.

“In the legalize movement, Coloradans were sold a bill of goods that never materialized – the state still has budget issues and on top of that we’ve inherited costs to our economy from workplace challenges to drugged driving. North Dakota needs to have an honest conversation about legalizing marijuana that we never had in Colorado,” said Justin Luke Riley, head of Marijuana Accountability Coalition in Colorado.
