Body recovered in West Fargo

3:45 p.m. Thursday update: The search for the possibly suicidal female in the Sheyenne River in West Fargo is now over.

West Fargo Fire Chief Dan Fuller says the West Fargo Fire Department, West Fargo Police Department and Valley Water Rescue made the recovery of a deceased female from the river at around 3 p.m. today. He says the body was found in the body of water in the area between 13th and 7th Avenues, along the bank of the River.

There is no identity available as Lieutenant Greg Warren, of the West Fargo Police Department, says the notification of family continues. He says there is no information available to show foul play was involved.

Original Story: West Fargo authorities are on the scene at the Sheyenne River currently looking for a possible suicidal female in the river.

According to Mattie Hjelseth, Media Relations Specialist for the City of West Fargo, the call came into authorities at 4:20 p.m. this afternoon.

At this hour, Hjelseth says the West Fargo Police Department, West Fargo Fire Department, Valley Water Rescue and F-M Ambulance are on scene. Authorities have completed a dog search earlier, and are now searching the water. Hjelseth says search dogs remain on the scene if needed and that authorities are now deploying into the water to search for the woman. She says there is currently no description available for the person they are seeking.

Hjelseth says West Fargo Fire Chief Dan Fuller says the biggest challenges at this time are the darkness and the current of the water flow.
