Heitkamp Announces Federal Funding for NDSU Plant Research

U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp Wednesday announced $182,200 in federal funding to North Dakota State University that supports canola research that could enhance production, better strategies for pest management, and provide better information to canola farmers.

“North Dakota is home to some of the best farm land in the world and making sure farmers and ranchers have access to the best possible information and technology only helps to increase their productivity,” said Heitkamp. “When you couple that with the research abilities of NDSU, we can improve crops across the agricultural sector like this federal funding will help do for canola research.”

These federal funds are made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture Supplemental and Alternative Crops Competitive Grants Program.
