North Dakota man arrested following unrest in Washington, D.C.

A 57-year-old North Dakota man was arrested on the early morning following the events that occurred at the United States Capitol in Washington, DC. In all, from Tuesday, January 5 through the early morning hours of Thursday, January 7, there were 82 unrest-related arrests.

One of those arrested on Thursday, January 7 was 57-year-old Timothy Austfjord, the lone North Dakotan arrested.

Sean Hickman, who is a Public Information Officer with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., confirmed to WZFG News that the 57-year-old Austfjord is from Cavalier, in northeastern North Dakota.

It is unknown, as of Saturday evening, if Austfjord is still in custody.
