Senior Army Officials to Visit Fargo, North Dakota October 17

 

Maj. Gen. Scott Spellmon, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers deputy commanding general for civil and emergency operations, will visit Fargo, North Dakota, tomorrow, Oct. 17, to learn about the Fargo/Moorhead Metropolitan Area Flood Risk Management Project. He will be accompanied by Col. Sam Calkins, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District commander.

While in Fargo, the Corps leaders will be attending the special meeting of the Diversion Authority at the Fargo City Commission Chambers, former Fargo City Hall, from 1:30-2:30 p.m.

The nearly 650 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, employees working at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states serve the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response. Through the St. Paul District Fiscal Year 2018 $106 million budget, nearly 1,700 non-Corps jobs were added to the regional economy as well as $163 million to the national economy.
