Family Displaced After Fargo Fire

(Fargo, ND) -- At 6:18 p.m. Tuesday evening, Fargo firefighters were dispatched to a report of a mattress on fire in a house at 514 9th St S.  Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from a second floor window.  Crews were able to locate a bedroom burning on the second floor and quickly extinguish the fire. The two residents of the house were home at the time of the fire and evacuated safely along with their pets.  The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.  A damage estimate is not yet available but the home is currently not able to be occupied.  The Red Cross is working with the residents to provide temporary shelter.

The Fargo Fire Department responded with 17 firefighters on five fire apparatus and one command vehicle.  The Fire Department was assisted by the Fargo Police Department, FM Ambulance, and the Red Cross.
