The North Dakota Game and Fish Department has released their numbers for the spring crowing count survey. According to the report, the spring pheasant count is down nearly 30 percent from the same time period last year. While the spring number is an indicator, Upland Game Management Biologist R.J. Gross said it does not predict what the fall population will look like. Pheasant crowing counts are conducted each spring throughout North Dakota, according to North Dakota Game and Fish. The numbers each year are compared to the previous years data, providing for a trend.
