Fire Damages Fargo Truck

At 1:27 p.m. Monday, the Fargo Fire Department responded to a truck on fire in front of 2542 West Country Club Drive South in Fargo. The first arriving truck found an insulation truck with the van body heavily involved in fire. Crews were able to knock the bulk of the fire down quickly and keep it contained to the truck box. The box was full of cellulose insulation that continued to smolder. Two crews stayed on scene for several hours removing the insulation and wetting it down.

The crew working with the insulation truck indicated they were in the house when the fire started and discovered it burning when they came back outside.

A damage estimate is not available at this time but the truck box was a total loss. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental from improperly discarded smoking materials.

The Fargo Fire Department responded with 16 personnel on 4 engines, 1 truck and 1 command vehicle. The Fargo Solid Waste department assisted the Fargo Fire Department. They were helpful in bringing out a large dumpster and loader to clean up the pile of insulation that had been spread out over the street while extinguishing the fire.

The Fargo Fire Department would like to remind everyone to call 911 immediately at the first sign of a fire. The quicker we can respond, the faster we can extinguish the fire and minimize damages.
