Hoeven Outlines Latest Developments Towards Growing North Dakota's Tech Sector

 Senator John Hoeven

At his 2018 State of Technology Conference today, Senator John Hoeven outlined the latest developments related to the growth of the technology sector in North Dakota and across the nation. This annual conference, which Hoeven hosts with the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce, is an important part of his efforts to establish the state as a hub of tech entrepreneurship, the third wave in North Dakota’s economic growth. This year’s event included keynote addresses from Linda McMahon, Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA), and Andrei Iancu, Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

“The focus on empowering entrepreneurship is a nationwide movement, but we do it best here in North Dakota,” Hoeven said. “Between private investment, the state’s pro-growth business climate and our federal efforts, we are positioned to build on the strong trend of growth in our state’s tech sector. We are getting there by advancing priorities like tax and regulatory relief, broadband infrastructure and STEM education. Making these investments will drive future innovation, whether it’s in our primary industries of agriculture and energy or in new fields like UAS.”
