Students to Host Homeless Awareness Concert December 13

Music works in powerful ways. When you use it to bring people together, great things can happen.

On Thursday, December 13, the Discovery Middle School eighth grade band is hosting a Donation Concert alongside Davies High School Wind Ensemble, Honor Band, and Jazz Bands. All proceeds will benefit three homeless shelters in Fargo-Moorhead.

Each musical group will perform various arrangements, leading up to a combined performance of A Solitary Wish, arranged by Brian Balmages. At the end of the concert, the total collection will be evenly distributed to three homeless organizations based in Fargo-Moorhead. The students chose the following organizations: YWCA Cass Clay, Churches United for the Homeless, and Youth Works of ND. Beginning in September, students brainstormed project ideas in their music classes to help raise awareness of homelessness in the community utilizing the power of music.
