Holiday Break Events at the Fargo Public Library

The Fargo Public Library has some fun, free events scheduled to help residents make the most of their holiday break.

Kids age 12 and younger can create a LEGO masterpiece for the Fargo Public Library’s annual LEGO Mania Design Contest for Kids. Kids build their original creation at home and bring it to the downtown Main Library for judging and display on Thursday, Dec. 27, between 2 and 3 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in several categories. Winners will be announced in the Children’s Room at 4 p.m. A list of rules and guidelines are available at www.fargolibrary.org. Pre-registration is required. To register for the contest or for more information, call the Children’s Librarian at 701.241.1495.

As part of the library’s Northern Narratives writing project, the library is offering open writing sessions to interested writers. Authors who are planning to submit a piece to the Northern Narratives writing project are encouraged to attend a workshop to have their piece reviewed by writing helpers. Five sessions are scheduled and the first session is Thursday, Dec. 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Northport Library. Sessions are open to teens, ages 13 and older, and adults. More sessions are scheduled in January and February. Pre-registration is required. Register online at www.fargolibrary.org or call 701.241.1492.

Finally, kids and families are encouraged to visit the downtown Main Library for the PJ Masksarade New Year’s Eve event on Monday, Dec. 31at 11 a.m. The festivities will feature superhero activities, crafts and snacks. All materials will be provided and no registration is required.
