Moorhead Public School District Communications Coordinator Pam Gibb released the following statement on behalf of the Moorhead Public School District on Thursday, after receiving news of the fatal accident at Buffalo River State Park on Wednesday:
“It saddens us to share that Ellen Hopkins Elementary School has lost a student in a tragic accident at Buffalo River State Park on June 27. At this time the family has requested privacy as they go through the grieving process. Moorhead Area Public Schools and Ellen Hopkins Elementary are reaching out to support the family, staff and students during this difficult time. Counselors and other support staff will be available to support students and staff who are struggling with the loss. If parents/guardians have concerns about their child, they may call Mobile Mental Health Crisis Response at 1-800-223-4512.”
