Fargo Man Arrested for Fake Robbery Report

 

The Fargo Police Metro Street Crimes Unit, along with the United States Marshals High Plains Fugitive Task force, conducted an operation Friday at around 12:45 p.m.

A vehicle drove by a Crimes Unit officer and the officer recognized a suspect, 23-year-old Brandon Richard Booth, of Fargo, in the vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, Red River Regional Dispatch received a phone call from an individual claiming an armed robbery had just occurred at the M & H gas station. The person on the phone kept hanging up on the dispatcher.

A Fargo Police officer attempted to call the number, but was unable to get any information.

The Red River Regional Dispatch Center found the number used to call in the robbery had been used on a previous call for service by Booth. The Crimes Unit later located Booth’s vehicle in the parking lot of the Grand Inn, 3402 14th Avenue South, set up surveillance and eventually took Booth into custody. Officers also located the phone used to call in the fake robbery on Booth.

Booth was arrested for false 911 emergency report and open warrants.
