Mayor Tim Mahoney Declares City Emergency Due to Extreme Cold and Deteriorating Conditions

Press Release from City of Fargo:

Fargo City Offices, Fargo Public Library, MATBUS and Fargo Cass Public Health closed on Jan. 30, with trash/recycling collections postponed

Due to the dangerously low temperatures and deteriorating weather conditions, Mayor Tim Mahoney has declared an emergency to enact a closure of all non-emergency City offices beginning this evening (Tuesday, January 29) at 6:30 p.m. and continuing through tomorrow (Wednesday, January 30).

Working together, Mayor Mahoney and West Fargo Commission President Bernie Dardis made this joint declaration to protect residents and City staff members in the community.  Snow plowing services will continue and public safety agencies will be in full operation to protect and serve the residents of Fargo and West Fargo.

All Fargo Public Library locations close tonight at 6:30 p.m. and remain closed through Wednesday.

MATBUS fixed route and MAT Paratransit services will end tonight at 6:15 p.m. and the Ground Transportation Center (GTC) will close at 6:30 p.m.  There will be no MATBUS or MAT Paratransit services on Wednesday.

All Fargo City Hall departments will be closed on Wednesday.

There will be no residential trash and recycling collection Wednesday and the Fargo Sanitary Landfill and Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility will both be closed Wednesday.  Residents who normally have trash/recycling collected on Wednesday will have those items collected on Thursday.  The scheduled Thursday and Friday collections will occur as usual.

Fargo Cass Public Health will be closed on Wednesday.  This includes all services, including WIC, clinic services and immunizations.
