Car, Train Collide South of Page, ND

 

The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Page Fire Department and Page Ambulance responded to a train-car collision early Friday morning.

According to a Highway Patrol report, during the early morning hours Friday, a Mazda 3 passenger car was attempting to cross a railroad crossing on Highway 38, approximately ½ mile south of Page, ND when it became stuck in a snow bank. The Mazda was southbound.

At approximately 3:15 a.m., while the occupants of the vehicle were attempting to push the vehicle off the crossing, an eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train approached the crossing. The train personnel made an emergency brake application on the train, but it was unable to stop.

None of the three occupants of the car were injured. Two personnel on the train were uninjured.

A no-travel advisory was in effect.
