Man Arrested Following Traill County Situation

A Fargo man is behind bars after eluding police and forcing closure of a highway in Traill County.

According to the Traill County Sheriff’s Office, at 11:35 a.m. Friday, deputies attempted a traffic stop on Highway 200, east of Mayville. Deputies were attempting to arrest Brandon Morris on warrants from both Traill and Cass County.

The vehicle fled eastbound on Highway 200, with speeds reaching approximately 115 miles per hour.

Authorities successfully deployed a tire deflation device seven miles east of Mayville. Two milers later, the suspect’s vehicle entered the ditch and became stuck.

The suspect refused, multiple times, requests from deputies to exit the vehicle.

Law enforcement approached the vehicle when the suspect indicated he had a weapon and they would have to shoot him to remove him from the vehicle.

Officers retreated, closed Highway 200 and requested assistance from the North Dakota Highway Patrol and Grand Forks Regional SWAT team.

Morris surrendered after nearly 90 minutes and no weapon was found. He was arrested on the warrants with additional charges of driving under suspension, fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement and reckless endangerment pending.

No injuries were reported.
