Luther Family Ford's Salute to Law Enforcement Honors Moorhead Officer Zach Johnson

The Moorhead Police Department has nominated Officer Zach Johnson for our Luther Family Ford Salute to Law Enforcement.

Officer Zach Johnson started his career in law enforcement with the Moorhead Police Department in 2014. He spend the four years prior to that as a member of the Police Explorer Program offered through Moorhead PD. Since becoming an officer, Zach has taken an interest in working directly with the youth in our community. He became and explorer advisor soon after starting here to pay back the program that helped him get into his career field. He has taken over coordination of the annual Cops and Kids hockey game offered through the Moorhead Police Athletics and Activities League. This game helps local kids have a positive experience with area officers. He does most of the work for this event on his off time. Zach has also been an integral part of planning with the “Every 15 Minutes” program. This event is a two day experience for Moorhead junior and seniors to learn the dangerous effects of drinking and driving. Zach was a participant of this program in 2011 as a senior at Moorhead High School and will take over coordination of this program after the 2019 event. In addition to these duties, Zach has become a Field Training Officer and helps educate our newly hired officers on all facets of working at our department. He also joined the Honor Guard Unit and represents our department at civic events and law enforcement funerals in the upper Midwest. In addition to his extra duties, Officer Johnson has proven himself an exceptionally capable officer and a valuable member of this department.
