Suspicious Vehicle Reported In Grand Forks

On Thursday, at approximately 3:35 p.m., a 6th grade Schroeder Middle School student was walking home from school in the 3300 block of South 10th Street, in Grand Forks, when the student was approached by a male driving a mini-van. The male told the student that the student’s mother was at the hospital emergency room and they needed to come with the male immediately.  The student knew this was not possible and ran directly home where she reported the incident to a family member and the Police Department was contacted.  The student was not followed by the male.

The suspect involved in this incident is described as a white male approximately fifty (50) to sixty (60) years of age.  He is described as having gray/white hair with a gray/white beard or goatee.  The male was wearing a tan colored leather jacket and blue jeans.  He also had a white colored baseball cap with black lettering on the cap.  The van he was driving is described as a red colored mini-van with clothes piled in the rear of the van.  The van possibly had unknown numbered South Dakota license plates.

The Grand Forks Police Department is seeking assistance from anyone who may have been in the area of South 10th Street around the time of this incident and who may have witnessed a vehicle matching this description.  Also, if anyone living in this area has home surveillance cameras that would possibly record this area, they are asked to contact the Police Department.
