Grand Forks Referee Found Dead In Langdon

A Grand Forks man was found dead Saturday in Langdon, where he was serving as an official in the North Dakota Junior Gold hockey tournament.

23-year-old Connor Landeis Sander, of Grand Forks, was reported missing at 12:50 p.m. to the Cavalier County Sheriff’s Office, after the 23-year-old did not show up for his game at the Dakota Spirit Arena.

While investigating his whereabouts, a Cavalier County Sheriff’s Deputy received a call that there was someone in the field south of Witzel Construction.

The deputy found Sander lying in the field deceased.

The sheriff’s office says it appears Sander was walking from the Langdon Motor Inn to the Cobblestone Inn, when he got confused and cold, ending up in a field approximately four tenths of a mile from the Langdon Motor Inn, which is just west of the Cobblestone Inn.

The incident is still under investigation by the Cavalier County Sheriff’s Office.
