City of West Fargo Presents City Government Career Day for Liberty and Cheney Middle Schools Students

In the spirit of Take Your Sons and Daughters to Work Day, the City of West Fargo is excited to announce the first City Government Career Day, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at the West Fargo Public Library. This event is free and open to any student at Liberty and Cheney Middle Schools to apply. It is limited to 25 participants, who will be selected after the application period closes.
“The goal of Take Your Sons and Daughters to Work Day is to expose our youth to a variety of careers to help them plan for the future,” said Jenna Wilm, City of West Fargo Director of Human Resources. “We are excited to create an event that increases the amount of students who get to take part, and increases the number of professions they are exposed to.”
The event will feature speakers from various City of West Fargo departments, as well as interactive learning activities to expose students to the wide variety of professions. Participants will also be provided a free lunch and networking opportunity with staff
“While it would be impossible to showcase the close to 100 different jobs that currently exist across the City of West Fargo’s employment system, we are hoping this event will give attendees a good idea of the broad range of professions available in the public service sector,” said Wilm.
To apply, students should fill out the City Government Career Day application at http://www.westfargond.gov/876/City-Government-Career-Day. The application will be available through Friday, March 29, 2019. On the application students can vote for the departments they’d like to learn about during the event, such as police, fire, library, economic development, administration and human resources. Participants must arrange for their own transportation to and from the event and their absence from school that day.
