Sandbag Central in Full Swing

The 2019 flood fight has begun in the City of Fargo.

This morning at 7 a.m., the flood fight began with the opening of Sandbag Central, which is located at the City of Fargo Waste Management Building.

The goal is one million sandbags.

The City of Fargo is preparing for a 10 percent probabilistic forecast of a 40.3 foot river crest. A level of 40.3 would be the second highest crest on record.

National Weather Service Warning Meteorologist Greg Gust tells the Need To Know Morning Show that even though precipitation and temperatures have been low, much of the water content still remains in snow and standing water, so he does not anticipate that the river level forecast has changed significantly from the bulletin issued on March 18th.

To volunteer by filling sandbags, call the Fargo Sandbag Central hotline at 701-476-4000.
