A 35 year old man is dead following an incident Monday night in the City of Wahpeton.
According to Wahpeton Police Chief Scott Thorsteinson, the incident occurred at around 11:40 p.m. Monday night at 915 Center Street South in Wahpeton.
Authorities were called to the scene and found the injured male. Life-saving measures were administered, but the injured male died due to the injuries sustained.
A suspect was arrested Tuesday afternoon and booked into the jail in Wahpeton, where the suspect is awaiting formal charges.
Thorsteinson says the department has forwarded its report to the Richland County State’s Attorney for consideration of charges in the incident. Thorsteinson says the charges could come in the next several days.
He tells WZFG News that the act appeared to be targeted, and does not appear to be a random act of violence.
No names have been released, as the suspect awaits formal charges and the Police Department is working to notify the deceased male’s next of kin.
