Investigation Leads To Revocation Of Fargo Daycare License

A Fargo daycare center has had its license to provide early childhood services revoked.

According to documents provided by the North Dakota Department of Human Services to WZFG News, Lil Bloomers Childcare and Preschool, located at 4656 40th Avenue South, was served a notice on March 15 by the Department of Human Services that their license was being suspended.

According to the documents, Lil Bloomers has been a licensed child care center since June 2007.

Since then, six incidents happened.

The first happened just over a year after the center opened, when two boys walked out of the center and were gone unnoticed for 30 minutes.

Then, in 2015, staff members left a child in the vehicle for at least 30 minutes when the temperature was 80 degrees. Other children were attending swimming lessons.

Less than one year later, two children wandered away from a the group during a field trip. One was found almost immediately and the other was gone for approximately five to 15 minutes.

In September 2017, a two-year-old was left unattended in a classroom for up to 25 minutes, while others were on a walk.

And, in February 2019, two four-year-old boys snuck away without coats, hats or gloves. The outside temperature was -11 degrees. The boys stated they pounded on the door to the facility but could not get back in. They found shelter in an unlocked vehicle. They were found 45 minutes later by childcare staff and one of the owners.

The final report from the Department of Human Services says, in part, “Lil Bloomers Childcare and Preschool is unable to provide a safe environment to children.”

A letter to parents, addressing the situation, was dated Thursday, March 28.
