U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer issued the following statement regarding his discussion on trade with President Donald Trump during their meeting at the White House earlier this week:
“The renegotiation of NAFTA into USMCA is a win for the American people and a win for my state of North Dakota. Farmers and manufacturers would benefit from Canada’s reduced trade distorting policies and improved transparency, and the exports of North Dakota grain growers would be recognized properly thanks to the grain grading fix. I pressed President Trump to work with Congress to ratify this agreement.
“We also discussed the importance of working toward a deal with China that is good for our nation’s agricultural community and the entire economy. For decades, China has acted in bad faith, and American farmers and businesses pay the price. I urged the President to fight to secure a trade deal that fulfills his promises and benefits the American people.”
