Senator Kevin Cramer on Sanctuary Cities Proposal

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer issued the following statement regarding President Donald Trump’s sanctuary cities proposal:

“Sanctuary cities were purposefully designed to ignore the rule of law and undermine our legal immigration system. Under current requirements, many undocumented immigrants cannot be detained for longer than 20 days. Given the Administration’s limited options, releasing these immigrants into sanctuary cities may make the most sense until Congress is willing to change our immigration system.”
