Fatal Accident in Pembina County

 

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a pedestrian fatality in Pembina County early this morning.

At approximately 1 a.m., a 1998 BMW 740, driven by 21-year-old Hunter Hatloy was eastbound on 79th Street Northeast in rural Pembina County, when he encountered a man standing on the right side of a gravel road near a residence. Hatloy steered to the left to avoid the male, identified as 40-year-old Matthew Hilton.

While steering left, Hatloy struck a female pedestrian, 44-year-old Kammi Leland, who was standing in the roadway. Hatloy and his passenger, 21-year-old Cordell Wimpfheimer, were not injured.

Leland was transported to Unity Medical Center in Grafton by ambulance, and pronounced dead.
