Distracted Driving Leads to Crash

 

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating an accident Tuesday evening.

Edith Johnson was driving a 2016 Toyota eastbound on US Highway 2 at an undetermined speed. The front seat passenger, Betty Johnson, took control of the steering wheel while Edith Johnson attempted to make a phone call. Betty Johnson failed to keep the vehicle on the roadway.

The vehicle left the roadway and entered the south ditch where it vaulted over a private driveway and rolled an undetermined amount of times. The vehicle came to rest on the driver side. There was a third passenger, Gloria Lassig.

All occupants sustained life-threatening injuries and were transported to CHI St. Alexius Devils Lake Hospital by ambulance. All occupants were eventually airlifted to another medical facility due to the seriousness of their injuries.
