Man Charged in Grand Forks Pedestrian Fatality Crash

Charges have been filed against a man who is said to have been involved in an April 8th pedestrian fatality crash on Gateway Drive, near I-29, in Grand Forks.

Lieutenant Brett Johnson of the Grand Forks P-D says charges have been forward to the Grand Forks County States Attorney for review against Tyson Sewell.

The charges include a Class B Misdemeanor of Driving with a Revoked License, and a Class B Felony of Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death.

On April 8, 2019 at approximately 10:11 p.m., officers of the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to the 4300 block of Gateway Drive, for a report of a male subject lying in the roadway with a head injury after being struck by a vehicle.  Initial investigation determined the male subject was crossing the road walking south bound outside of the crosswalk when he was struck by a 1996 Honda Accord driven by Sewell, a 40-year-old from Grand Forks, traveling west bound.  CPR was attempted on the male but he was pronounced deceased on scene.

Johnson tells WZFG News that Sewell called law enforcement to report his involvement several minutes after the crash.
