Wynne Named UND Interim President

The interim president for the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks will come from within the University.

UND Dean of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Joshua Wynne, was named the UND interim president by the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education on Thursday. Wynne will be the interim president, while a permanent replacement is searched fore, and hired, for outgoing UND President Mark Kennedy.

Two candidates were submitted to the board as finalists—Wynne and former dean of the UND College of Business and Public Administration, Dennis Elbert.

When Kennedy leaves the campus in June, Wynne will take over as interim president, while retaining his current position as vice president and dean.

In addition, at Thursday’s State Board of Higher Education Meeting, Elbert and State Board of Higher Education member, Dr. Casey Ryan, were named co-chairs of the search committee that will be formed to find a permanent replacement for Kennedy.
