Injury Reported in Pickup vs. Pedestrian Crash

The Grand Forks Police Department says one person was injured in a crash late Tuesday morning in Grand Forks.

At 11:49 a.m., officers were called to South 4th Street and Bruce Avenue, for a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. Upon arrival, a 39-year-old female was found on the sidewalk with apparent leg injuries.

The vehicle, a 2002 Chevy pickup, was on the sidewalk against an iron railing.

The investigation showed that the pickup, driven by 50-year-old Blaine Lorenzen of Grand Forks, was southbound on South 4th Street, when it went onto the sidewalk on the southeast side of the intersection, striking the pedestrian and then the railing.

The pedestrian, who is not being identified pending notification of relatives, was taken to Altru Hospital by private vehicle.

Lorenzen was arrested for DUI, Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, Reckless Endangerment and Possession of Marijuana. He was taken to Altru Hospital and then the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.

Minor damage was sustained to the vehicle, and significant damage to the railing.
