Petition Formats Approved

The North Dakota Secretary of State’s office says that three petitions, submitted last week, have had their formats approved for circulation.

The first, initiated by Riley Kuntz of Dickinson, petitions to have a measure placed on the ballot in regards to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library and museum. The referendum, if passed, would reject a section of Senate Bill 2001, creating an endowment fund for the library and museum.

The second, initiated by Kuntz, seeks to reject section three of Senate Bill 2004, relating to the powers and duties of the state auditor.

The third, also initiated by Kuntz, seeks to reject Senate Bill 2221, which exempts, from public record, the communications between a legislator and any person, whether the record is possessed by a member of the Legislature or public officer or employee.

The Secretary of State’s office says 13,452 signatures need to be collected and submitted by midnight on July 31.
