Fraud Charges Filed Against Fargo Man

North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Jon Godfread has announced the filing of insurance fraud charges against a Fargo man.

In 2017, the North Dakota Insurance Department received a referral regarding Scott Goebel, of Fargo, in reference to alleged insurance fraud.

An investigation into the case, conducted by the Insurance Department, revealed that Goebel was allegedly causing accidents in the Fargo area in a two year span, totaling $22,985. The evidence obtained showed that Goebel intentionally maneuvered his vehicle in a way that would not only cause an accident but also make it appear to be the fault of the other driver. He would then fail to disclose any prior vehicle damage to the insurance company to receive more money from the company than was owed.
