Pesticide Scam Hits North Dakota

The North Dakota Department of Agriculture’s leader says a pesticide scam has hit the state.

Doug Goehring, North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner, told WZFG News on Friday that the phone pesticide scam has started recently across the state. He says North Dakota is not the only state to have these scams.

Goehring said callers have been called about a ‘miracle pesticide’ that takes care of all nuisances for growers.

He says that, in most every case, one would not conduct the sale of a pesticide over the phone, as many local farm retailers and chemical providers that farmers work with provide these items.

Goehring advises those who think they’ve fallen victim to this scam to contact both his office and the North Dakota Attorney General’s office.
