Details Released Surrounding Vehicle, Bicycle Crash in West Fargo

The North Dakota Highway Patrol has now released more information surrounding a vehicle versus bicycle crash in West Fargo last week.

On Saturday, June 8, at shortly after noon, a Ford Explorer, driven by Larry Wright, was attempting to turn left from 4th Avenue South onto 7th Street East in West Fargo. He yielded to eastbound traffic then continued to turn left, through the intersection.

A juvenile male was stopped for traffic on the sidewalk in the southwest corner of 4th Avenue South and 7th Street East. After stopping, the juvenile entered the intersection, in the crosswalk, and rode out in front of the vehicle.

The Ford Explorer struck the juvenile male, trapping him and his bicycle under the vehicle. The speed of the vehicle, at the time of the crash, was approximately five miles per hour, according to the Highway Patrol.

The juvenile was transported to Sanford Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Wright was not injured.

The Highway Patrol says there will be no charges filed from the crash.
