Wes Peck, Principal Geologist, Energy & Environmental Research Center in Grand Forks, Wes is instrumental in the CarbonSAFE program which is looking at storing CO2 from lignite-based power plants underground. He’ll give an update on the program. There have been drilling activities to determine the storage capabilities in both Mercer and Oliver Counties 

 

     Charles Gorecki, Director of Subsurface R&D, Energy & Environmental Research Center at UND, discussing the new release that he has been named the next CEO of UND’s Energy and Environmental Research Center.

    Retha Mattern, Business and Outreach Coordinator, National Energy Center of Excellence, Bismarck State College, discussing upcoming events where we are introducing high school students to energy and energy career opportunities. Group of students coming from north and south Dakota at the end of July.  They take part in hands on energy activities to learn about BSC and our energy programs, and what the industry is about. Engaging students in hands-on activities has been a good way to introduce students to this career area.
