Fargo Apartment Damaged by Fire

At 10:35 pm on Tuesday, Fargo firefighters responded to a report of a fire in an apartment building located at 102 14th St S.  When firefighters arrived they discovered a fire had started on the first floor of the apartment building and the fire had been extinguished by one of the tenants.  Multiple tenants had to escape from windows on the first floor prior to the fire being extinguished.  Firefighters assisted one individual in exiting the building due to smoke conditions.

A joint investigation of the incident, and the cause of the fire, is being conducted by the Fargo Fire and Police Departments.  There were no injuries and damage to the building is estimated at $15,000.

The Fargo Fire Department would like to remind everyone to check their smoke detectors monthly and to always have two ways out in the event of a fire.  Additional information on fire safety can be found at www.fargofire.com.  You can also follow the Fargo Fire Department on Facebook at www.facebook.com/FargoFireDepartment.
