Community Comes Together to Serve Watford City Residents

People affected by the tornado in Watford City have the opportunity today to meet with several organizations with resources to help them begin the recovery process. The American Red Cross has opened a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) at the Watford City Civic Center from 9:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12.

Residents affected by the storm can meet with representatives from the Red Cross, McKenzie County Social Services, Department of Health Services, McKenzie County Veteran Service Office, Lutheran Social Services, Salvation Army, Lutheran Disaster Response, USDA Rural Housing, Department of Human Services, Public Health and Community Action.

“In 13 years of disaster response, I have never seen a community come together and support its people like this one,” Tom Tezel, Red Cross Regional Disaster Officer, said of Watford City. “We would like to thank community groups and government agencies for their partnership. The Red Cross is fortunate to be a part of this extraordinary effort.”

The Red Cross is working closely with emergency officials in McKenzie County to assess the needs of the community and will continue to provide support as needed.
