Hoeven Cosponsors Resolution Supporting ICE, Border Law Enforcement Officers

Senator John Hoeven today announced that he is cosponsoring a resolution in support of the officers and personnel who carry out the mission of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), amid calls to abolish ICE. The resolution also expresses support for the officers and employees of the U.S. Armed Forces and Federal and State law enforcement agencies who enforce the nation’s border laws.

“The law enforcement officials responsible for securing our border make tremendous sacrifices each and every day to help keep our nation safe,” said Hoeven. “This resolution expresses support for their work to secure our borders and stop both dangerous people and illegal drugs from infiltrating our communities.”

The resolution highlights the work of ICE to protect American families and combat gang violence and prevent the flow of illegal drugs. In Fiscal Year 2017, ICE seized nearly a million pounds of narcotics and arrested more than 4,800 gang members.
