Grand Forks Bear Remains in Tree

The Grand Forks Herald reports that the now-infamous bear in town in Grand Forks is still at large. At 2:45 p.m., a Grand Forks Parks District employee told viewers watching from a block over and across the street to leave as animal control prepared to tranquilize the bear. She told viewers the bear was awake, and officials feared he might try running their way since the back of the park was gated by a fire truck and police vehicles. As someone drove a cattle trailer closer to the bear’s tree, the bear climbed higher up a tree branch. The bear is now in University Park.  The Park District closed University Park today, in the interest of public safety.
