Lip Sync Mania Hits F-M Metro

Both the Fargo and West Fargo Police Departments have now been issued and have completed the now infamous lip sync challenge. According to CNN, Police departments from around the country have been challenging one another to lip sync battles. West Fargo Assistant Police Chief Jerry Boyer tells WZFG News that the department never dreamed of getting as much attention as it has when it did a lip sync challenge video to Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way”. The West Fargo video has even made its way to ABC’s Good Morning America. It depicts three West Fargo P-D officers in their vehicle partaking in one of Fargo’s delicacies—Sandy’s Donuts. Boyer says his department is hoping that everyone realizes through these challenges that these officers are just people, and have a sense of humor about the stereotypes of police and donuts. In Fargo, Fargo Police officers lip synced to Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off”. Fargo P-D Public Information Officer Jessica Schindeldecker says the challenge allows relationships to form between police and the community. These relationships help police down the road when they need the help of the community whether it’s calling in suspicious activity or helping them identify someone who has committed a crime. Fargo’s video, which was posted today (Monday) has been seen more than 200 times on Youtube, while the West Fargo video, which was posted July 5, has been seen more than 39 thousand times.
