Candidate Announcement: City of Moorhead City Council

Moorhead resident, community activist and Realtor® Marc Hedlund announces his candidacy for Moorhead City Council.

Hedlund, Senior Listing Agent with Hatch Realty and volunteer with The F5 Project, states he will be running for the 4th Ward seat.

The seat is currently held by Chuck Hendrickson who will also be running re-election.  There are three other council seats up for election in addition to Hendrickson’s spot.

Hedlund lives in Moorhead with his wife Holly and their two girls, Annabelle (10) and Ivy (5).  As a devoted father, Minnesota native and Moorhead resident for the past fifteen years, Hedlund highlights his excitement for this opportunity and challenge.  “Minnesota has always been my home,” says Hedlund.  “Our two girls who rooted us in Moorhead, have shown us our community can be better.”

Hedlund’s priorities, include continuing the growth and momentum of Downtown Moorhead; public safety; and creating positive relationships with current and new business owners.  Realizing the challenges that lie in this position if elected, Hedlund highlights the order of his agenda, saying some need to come before the other(s).

“Businesses and entrepreneurs need to want to be in our city,” says Hedlund.  “They [business owners] will be drawn here when they see safe communities; safe streets; and investment into spaces that draw people, like Historic Downtown Moorhead.”

Hedlund says his experiences as a father, business leader, business owner and obstacles he’s overcome in his past give him insight as a candidate that is unmatched.

“I’m a business owner, I’m a leader within my company and I’m a dad who's committed to improving the quality of life for all who call Moorhead home,” says Hedlund. “With the recent appropriation of funding to develop the 20th St underpass, the growing strength of the Moorhead Business Association and the increasing number of families now is the time for new leadership for the 4th Ward.

Election day is Tuesday, November 6, 2018.  You can learn more about Marc Hedlund by calling or texting him at (701) 730-4440.
