Driver at Large After Chase

A driver is still at large this afternoon after a high-speed chase early this morning, according to West Fargo Police. At approximately 2 a.m., West Fargo Police attempted a traffic stop near the 1700 block of Main Avenue East for an expired registration on the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle sped away, and eventually exited the roadway near I-29 in Fargo. According to the Forum, a state trooper used a PIT maneuver, which is meant to abruptly turn the vehicle sideways. The vehicle slowed, then struck a curb. After striking the curb, the driver fled on foot and is still at large. A weapon was found in the vehicle, police said. An unsuccessful attempt to track the driver occurred using a police dog. As of 1 p.m., the driver has not been located by police. If you have any information regarding this case, you are asked to call your local authorities.
