Thief River Falls City Council Member Resigns

A fight ensued recently at a meeting of the Thief River Falls City Council, and subsequently, the City Council has one less member this week. Thief River Falls city councilman Josh Hagen addressed the council at its meeting Tuesday, coming a week after an argument during a committee meeting turned physical. He says he feels he was attacked. Hagen, who represented Ward 3, told the council that “most of these attacks have happened under your (TRF Mayor Brian Holmer) watch.” Hagen claims Holmer and council member Curt Howe attacked him following his receiving a letter saying he was going to be taking a leave of absence. Hagen says it was written and endorsed by Holmer and sent to council members and city staff. Hagen apologized to the people of Thief River Falls for what he did, but did not apologize for defending himself. He then subsequently resigned from the council.
