Block 9 Project Creates Issues

It’s called the Block 9 project. And it’s a project that is causing some contention in the City of Fargo. According to the Kilbourne Group, the block has captured imaginations of people around the world as we’ve set out to dream of possibilities for the property. Held in 2010, Downtown Fargo: An Urban-Infill Competition garnered 160 design entries from 23 countries. Nearly six years later, a strong partnership has formed to turn the dream into reality. Partners in the proposed project would include RDO Companies, Kilbourne Group, and the City of Fargo. But, Prairie Public Broadcasting is being impacted by the project. Its tower, which is located near the site of the projected building project, would become blocked if Block 9 were to become a reality. When the project gets to the tenth floor, the signal would be blocked. Those involved with the project are looking at long-term solutions and will “make the best long-term solution for Prairie Public.” Construction is planned to begin in late August.
