Carrington Man Charged in Motorcycle-Car Crash

On Saturday, at approximately 10:48 PM, officers from the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Gateway Drive and North Washington Street, for the report of an accident involving a motorcycle and passenger car.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2017 Indian Roadmaster, driven by 24-year-old Carrington resident, Austin Johnson, was traveling eastbound on Gateway Drive, when it rear ended a 2003 Toyota Camry, driven by 43-year-old Grand Forks resident, Matthew Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was stopped at a red light, facing westbound, at the time of collision.  As a result of the collision, Johnson was thrown from his motorcycle.

Johnson was transported to Altru Hospital via ambulance. The extent of his injuries are not known at this time, but they are believed to be non-life threatening.

Johnson was cited for care required, driving a vehicle other than permitted by class license (no motorcycle endorsement), and driving under the influence of alcohol.
