Fargo Woman's Son Speaks Out

Nicholas Berlin is speaking out for the first time since his mother, Denise Anderson, was tragically killed in an apartment fire. Early last Thursday morning, firefighters found her body in the apartment after putting out the blaze, with obvious signs of death by causes other than fire. Traumatic injuries were found on her body.

Berlin says, in an interview Sunday with WZFG News, that he believes Sheldon Davis is trying to 'get away with murder' by 'flat out lying'. He says Davis' character showed when he didn't try to do something when the incident happened, which Berlin feels should have been done if Davis truly loved his mother.

The relationship between Anderson and Davis was described as being 'toxic'.

Leading up to the day Anderson died, she had been working on a case against Davis for physical abuse in their relationship prior. Berlin says he truly believes his mother would be alive if Davis would have been jailed for the abuse. He says it would've 'given him time to reflect.'

He says that Anderson said, at one time, "I thought he (Davis) was going to kill me." Berlin says she was scared to report the incident to authorities.

When asked if he ever thought something like happened last Thursday would ever happen, Berlin's response was, 'no way'. Davis appeared to be 'super controlling and possessive.'

In the days following her death, Berlin says he 'doesn't know what he could have done differently.'

Davis is anticipated to be in court for an initial appearance on Monday.
