Legislator Unsure About Re-Introducing Gun Bill

Just days after the mass shootings in Texas and Ohio, talk has sparked across the country in regards to gun legislation.

Locally, Fargo Democratic Representative Karla Rose Hanson, last year, had introduced, in the North Dakota Legislature, House Bill 1537, which related to the seizure of a firearm by a law enforcement officer, and, subsequently, the issuance of a safety protection order. The bill failed with 17 yea votes and 76 nay votes on February 19.

Now, six months later, after the shootings, WZFG News reached out to Hanson to ask whether or not she has considered re-introducing the bill. In an e-mail to WZFG News, Hanson says, 'No decisions have been made about re-introducing it in January 2021.'
