Adult and larval Zebra Mussels confirmed in Steele County

SOUTH GOLDEN LAKE, ND — The North Dakota Game and Fish Department has confirmed invasive zebra mussels are in the waters of South Golden Lake in Steele County.

Rangers discovered zebra mussel larva earlier this week while checking samples from the lake. After a taking closer look, the department also found adult mussels in the lake. Moving water away from the lake has been banned following the discovery, including water for transferring bait.

Notices are being posted at the lake’s access sites.
